Charity News:
Charity donation presentation: The 2009 Wahoo Challenge is excited to announce that on February 2nd, 2010 the Executive Board members; Adrian Holler, Curtis Strange and Dale Britt presented their chosen charities with $30,000! The board members set out in 2005 to create an event that would promote the local fishing community, the town of Morehead City and fund the charities that they hold close to their hearts: Take A Kid Fishing Foundation and Crystal Coast Hospice House. Five years later the tournament has donated over $220,000 to these well deserving charities. Of course they could not do this alone. This tournament is a success because of the very generous sponsors and enthusiastic participants that continue to support us year after year. Our raffle and auction items play a big part in the tournament's charity donations and we need to thank all those folks that joined us under the tent for these events as well.

Crystal Coast Hospice House event: The Wahoo Challenge would like to promote a wonderful event for one of our charities: On Monday February 22nd please plan to attend the Crystal Coast Hospice House Wild Game & Seafood Dinner at 6pm in Bistro-by-the-Sea's main dining room. Tim (who specializes in wild game preparation) and Libby (who is on the board) have graciously opened their restaurant for the event. Wild Game & Seafood will be donated by various local huntsmen. Italian Wines will be presented by Marco Laico of Vino Vino. Tickets are only $35 per person including a $25 membership to become "A Friend of the C.C.H.H.". At the end of the tasting, you can order these select wines and all the proceeds will be benefit the future hospice house. We are desperately in need of a Hospice Home in Carteret County and we are just beginning our campaign. There is limited seating so reservations are recommended. For tickets please call Libby at 252-247-2777.
Welcome to our newest working board members:
The Wahoo Challenge would like to extend a warm welcome to Mae Jackson and Cheryl Mansfield as our newest members of the working board. These ladies volunteered at the 2009 tournament and jumped in with a passion and enthusiasm for getting the job done. We were lucky to have them under the tent last year and we are excited to have them on board to help with the pre-planning as well as the tournament event in October.
In the news: Take a moment to check out the Carteret News Times February 14th edition. Thank you Evans for the fantastic story about our charity donations.
